Not Larry, Not Moe, Not Shemp

Hey, it's not just women you need to be talking to about this. :)
You are, of course, correct. I beg your forgiveness.

At least, curly is "in", sometimes. Straight, also "in", sometimes.

Wavy is never "in", and it's nearly impossible to turn it straight or curly in time to match it up with whatever's "in" at any given season.

If only my hair would make up its mind. Sigh.
I think I'm gonna cut all this crap off anyway. I should find somewhere that does Locks of Love and go for it. It's been over two years.
Locks of Love requires 10 inches, I think.
Hmmm, where'd the rest of my post go? Hair Cuttery on Broad St. takes Locks of Love donations. That's where I go every couple of years to lop it all off and donate.
Wavy is never in? WTF?! I love wavy!

Back when I had longer hair (both 80s length and then 90s ponytail length), I also noticed that my hair looked better when I went without shampooing for a day or so. A little oil was apparently a great thing. Except for my scalp didn't like the lack of a daily shampoo.

So my cheap shortcut method to Maura's linked-to-method was to run my moisturizing-lotion-coated fingers through my hair after I was done moisturizing my arms and face. (Yes, I use the same cheap stuff for both arms and face.) It seemed to get the job done.

These days, my hair is plenty short:

The folks at Great Clips keep telling me I need to use conditioner to make it softer. Once a year I break down and buy whatever they're selling, use it for a week (or less) then quit. Hey -- do you want a bottle of barely used leave-in conditioner for dryish hair? If so, it's yours!

Call me: (Logan has my card and number). Oh and in other things, I may have some work coming up in January that would be suited for you. We must talk.

Wavy is fabulous. Body without the frizz.

Oye, thanks for the plug!

Maura, I found you! I so glad you have a blog! I have to say, you and JP were at Barry's house the other night with my friend Marcus while I was next door at Marcus's house. I can't believed I missed seeing you. I think I might have to start stalking you. What song would you like me to play while holding a boombox over my head and standing outside your bedroom window? Any preferences? Prince?
BTW, most women I know with curly hair want it straight, and most women with straight hair want it less straight. Go figure. Men don't seem to give a damn, despite my snotty first comment. I'm also sure there's some metrosexual guy out there who gets a perm every month, but fuck him. :)

Nicole: Thanks.
Darcy: Of course it has to be Prince. That will get my attention faster than anything.

Aaand I just now remembered that you e-mailed me a few weeks ago and I never got back to you. Cripes. Picture me red from embarrassment.

E-mail me. Or I'll e-mail you.
Again, you are correct Joe. It takes years for women to make peace with their hair.

I'm hoping the era of men getting perms is gone for good.

I love how people are starting to get on the "Washing your hair everyday dries it out" bandwagon. If only because I used to get flack for only washing once a week back in school (by stupid kids who asked to touch my hair and some such. Gotta love Nebraska!).

Anyhow, naturally I have extremely course, kinky hair. I can't do it natural because I've always had some type of process on it and I don't like taking the time to wait for it to grow out. Maybe when I'm old and cute. Currently I wear a perm (relaxer, straightener) and I'm in the process of looking for someone to layer it and cut all the dead stuff out. Right now my hair is very mad at me because I haven't had time for it, but after some Hairapy sessions I think we'll make it.
